Screening of Documentary "Before the Flood"

On 20 October 2016, the Department of Public Information organized a screening of National Geographic's climate change documentary "Before the Flood". Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is featured in the film that follows Leonardo DiCaprio in his role as a UN Messenger of Peace as he explores the topic of climate change and asks questions of how its catastrophic impact on our planet can be averted.

The screening was followed by a conversation on climate change with Leonardo DiCaprio, Secretary of State John Kerry, the film's director Fisher Stevens and Deputy Director of the Sciences and Exploration Directorate and Acting Director of the Earth Sciences Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Piers Sellers.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Minister of the Environment, Energy and Marine Affairs, responsible for International Climate Relations of France Ségolène Royal and Chief Executive Officer of National Geographic Global Networks Courteney Monroe also delivered remarks at the screening event.
