International Day of Happiness 2017: Small Smurfs Big Goals Campaign Presentation

On Saturday, 18 March 2017, the Small Smurfs Big Goals campaign to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) culminated with a presentation with voice actors from the animated movie Smurfs: The Lost Village to an excited General Assembly Hall filled with Model UN students.

Actors Demi Lovato, Joe Manganiello and Mandy Patinkin joined officials from the United Nations, UNICEF and United Nations Foundation at the world body’s Headquarters in New York to celebrate International Day of Happiness with the SDG awareness-raising campaign, using the hashtag #SmallSmurfsBigGoals. On twitter #SmallSmurfsBigGoals was tweeted some 24,240 times with a total potential reach of 137.5 million users, and resulting in approximately 801 million potential impressions. There were also more than 240,000 visits to the website where the SDG - Smurf quiz was taken over 13,000 times.

The campaign is designed to encourage young people everywhere to learn about and support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by world leaders in 2015 to help make the world more peaceful, equitable and healthy.
