On Monday, 28 March 2016, a concert by TURKSOY Cultural Ensemble took place in the General Assembly Hall to mark the observance of the International Day of Nowruz, Persian New Year, registered by UNESCO in its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Nowruz is not only the beginning of the spring and the New Year, the re-awakening and rebirth of the nature, but it is also an occasion to promote peace and solidarity. It is one of the most important celebrations of many Member States in Eurasia.

The performance, organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Permanent Missions of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Turkey and Turkmenistan to the United Nations, featured music and dance in the traditions of the TURKSOY Member States.
