Celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter, the 2017 UN Day Concert was held on 24 October 2017 in the General Assembly Hall and featured Lúčnica – The Slovak National Folklore Ballet.

The theme of this year’s concert, sponsored by the Permanent Mission of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations, was “Potential in Diversity,” with speeches from Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and President of the General Assembly Miroslav Lajčák highlighting the achievements of the Organization and exalting the benefits of diverse societies and multi-lateral cooperation.

Under-Secretary-General for Global Communication Alison Smale and Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations Michal Mlynár echoed these sentiments in their welcoming remarks before making way to the high-intensity and colourful performance of Slovakian cultural heritage by Lúčnica.
